Centrop Houtimport feels responsible for making a positive contribution to society, alongside its daily activities in the timber industry. Corporate social responsibility is embedded in the way we work and the choices we make, both within our own organization and externally. This commitment is reflected in sustainable business operations as well as in initiatives aimed at supporting people and communities worldwide.
Centrop Houtimport places great value on contributing to society. This is reflected in our business in all the wood sold with an eco-label. But the colleagues at Centrop also sponsor two children through Plan International. In doing so, we try to contribute to the development of children growing up in poverty. Plan International contributes to better living conditions and simultaneously increases future opportunities for these children.
Charana Simkhada was born in Nepal in 2011 and lives in the Karnali community. Thanks in part to the help of the Plan International Foundation, it was possible to provide Charana's house with a roof made of tiles and slate.
Neuza Sila Cuamba was born in Mozambique in 2013 and lives in the Inhambane community. It has been made possible for Neuza to attend a primary school less than 30 minutes away. Her favorite subject is arithmetic.
With the contribution from Centrop, the community there is also supported through various projects. One of these projects offers young people the opportunity to undertake vocational training.
Through these initiatives, Centrop aims not only to provide short-term support but, in fact, to contribute to sustainable long-term development. Education, safe living conditions, and access to vocational training form the basis for independence and future prospects. In this way, alongside its daily activities in the timber industry, Centrop also contributes to opportunities for future generations outside the Netherlands.
